Men’s Club Championship: It took six extra holes but, reigning 2009 Grant County Senior Amateur Champion, Robert Etherton captured his 11th Club Championship in a dramatic sudden death playoff over Andrew Porterfield. The playoff started on hole #1. Both had opportunities to close out each other, both birdied #1, Etherton missed a 3 foot birdie putt on #2, both players bogeyed #3, both missed birdie putts on #4, Porterfield missed a 6 foot birdie on #5, then finally on #6 Etherton hit a 5 foot birdie to seal the victory. Etherton’s first Club Championship win came in 1980,(four years before Porterfield was born) with his last win in 1996. Defending Club Champion Keith Ruberg finished one shot out of the playoff to finish in third. Final Results are as follows: 1st Robert Etherton 72-72-144 2nd Andrew Porterfield 68-76-144 3rd Keith Ruberg 72-73-145 4th Todd Chin 74-75-149 5th Brian Brewer 81-78-159 6th Bob Smithson 77-84-161 7th Blake McQueen 84-80-164 8th Nick Combs 80-86-166 Tom Ferguson 81-WD Women’s Club Championship: 1st Kayla Adamson 80-86-166 Senior Club Championship: Jerry Rhoads(76-75) held onto his one shot lead after day one, to win his first Senior Club Championship by two shots. Last year’s runner up Charlie Piper finished in second again this year with rounds of 78-75. Dave “Moose” McGuinn placed third with 78-76. Last year’s champ Herb Smith finished in seventh. Dennis Fox was low finisher in the age 50-59 division & Gene Hovious was low man in the 70's division. Shugart fired a 78 to overcome a four shot deficit Sunday to beat first round leader Warren Dailey by two shots. Bob Welton finished third with an 165 total. Final Results are as follows: 1st Andrew Weiland 35-41-76 2nd Spencer Hinkle 39-41-80 3rd Lance Hoch 41-47-88 4th Kyle Lawson 46-44-90 5th Cody White 44-53-97 6th Christopher Duckwall 54-46-100 6th Austin Engle 47-53-100 6th Michael Law 49-51-100 Blake McQueen WD Kia Bragg WD Nick Combs WD Junior First Flight: 13 year old Kayla Adamson fired her career best 9 hole round -3 (33) to win the Junior first flight by an impressive 13 strokes over Chanse Mygrant(46).
