Men's Club Championhsip Keith Ruberg was due, after a second place finish in 2007 and losing in a playoff to Steve Evans in the 2006 club championship. Ruberg finally came out on top to win his first club championship with a pair of 71's over the weekend. Down one shot after the first day to 2003 Club Champion Andrew Porterfield’s even par round of 70, Keith edged out Steve Nelson by a one shot on Sunday and Porterfield by two shots. Robert Etherton had the championship’s only under par round with an 68 on Sunday to finish in the fourth spot. Final results are as follows: 1st Keith Ruberg 71-71-142 2nd Steve Nelson 73-70-143 3rd Andrew Porterfield 70-74-144 4th Robert Etherton 79-68-147 5th John Chin 76-76-152 6th Sean Lockridge 81-72-153 7th Bob Smithson 82-74-156 7th Ross Bowen 75-81-156 9th Mike Small 80-81-161 10th Spencer Hinkle 82-80-162 10th John Hix 85-77-162 12th Stan Neuenschwander 84-80-164 13th Kyle Arenas 83-82-165 Women's Club Championship 2007 Women’s Club Champion Jenny Brubaker successfully defended her title with an 8 shot victory. It’s Jenny’s fourth title in 7 years. Cindy Shugart finish in second and had the shot of the tournament with an eagle 2 during the first round on hole #W1. Three time Women’s champ Sue Stuttle finish in third. Final results are as follows: 1st Jenny Brubaker 84-80-164 2nd Cindy Shugart 86-86-172 3rd Sue Stuttle 89-87-176 4th Clara Brubaker 93-101-194 5th Charlotte Terhune 116-97-213 6th Bernice Terhune 122-105-227 Senior Club Championship 2007 Senior runner up Herb Smith won his first Senior title in a one hole sudden death playoff over Charlie Piper. Smith fired a 75 to overcome a four shot deficit Sunday to tie Piper who shot 79. On the first playoff hole Smith hit a 12 foot birdie putt for the win. Jim Johnson finished third with an 158 total. Defending Senior champ Max Brubaker finished in fourth with 159. Final results are as follows: 1st Herb Smith 78-75-153 2nd Charlie Piper 74-79-153 3rd Jim Johnson 77-81-158 4th Max Brubaker 77-82-159 5th Ron Vermilion 84-79-163 6th Dan Smith 80-88-168 7th Mike Line 86-84-170 8th Wayne Kitch 86-87-173 9th Jim Ayres 87-88-175 10th Lonny Harts 89-87-176 10th Mike Frei 87-89-176 12th Gene Hovious 86-91-177 13th Jerry Jump 93-92-185 14th Jim Hutchison 95-93-188 15th Keith MacDonald 91-99-190 16th Don Dailey 93-98-191 First Flight Eastbrook High School Sophomore Blake McQueen took the First Flight Championship with an impressive 12 shot victory by firing a career best even par 72 in the first round. McQueen finish with an 152 two day total. Steve Shugart finished in second with a 164 total, in third was Warren Dailey with 168. Final results are as follows: 1st Blake McQueen 72-80-152 2nd Steve Shugart 85-79-164 3rd Warren Dailey 87-81-168 4th Tyler Small 84-85-169 5th Kevin Caudill 84-87-171 6th Lukas Clevenger 86-86-172 6th Jason Line 87-85-172 8th Mike McCorkle 83-91-174 9th Jason Anderson 89-86-175 10th Mike Reynolds 94-89-183 11th Kyle Lawson 95-92-187 12th Christopher Duckwall 95-99-194 12th Austin Engle 100-94-194 14th Aaron Clevenger 104-99-203 15th Jerrod Draper 103-104-207 Junior Club Championship Marion High School Junior Spencer Hinkle captured his first Junior Club Championship by three shots over Eastbrook Sophomore Andrew Weiland. Weiland had a on shot lead at the turn with a 37 over Marion Freshman Lukas Clevenger(38), and a two shot lead over Hinkle and Eastbrook grad. Derek Ralston(39). But Hinkle fired a two under 34 on the back nine for a 73. Weiland finish with 76, Clevenger in third with 79, and Ralston was fourth with an 80. Final results are as follows: 1st Spencer Hinkle 39-34-73 2nd Andrew Weiland 37-39-76 3rd Lukas Clevenger 38-41-79 4th Derek Ralston 39-41-80 5th DJ Taylor 43-44-87 6th Kyle Lawson 45-44-89 Junior First Flight In the First Flight division of the Junior, Preston Jones, narrowly edged out Austin Engle, for a one shot victory. Third place was Lance Hoch with 43 and in fourth was Christopher Duckwall with 44. Again this year all the Juniors would like to give a special "Thank You" to Randy LeFavour of LeFavour Steel Detailing for his continued support of junior golf at Arbor Trace.
